Jany Finkielsztein

Senior Fellow

Originally from Bogotá, Columbia, Jany worked in charter, public, and independent schools in Massachusetts as a middle school teacher, curriculum coordinator, and instructional coach. She has led professional learning for K–12 educators and served as adjunct faculty in teacher programs at Boston and Simmons University.  Jany has published research papers on antisemitism and antizionism in K–12 education, with a particular focus on curricula and libraries. She serves on the board of the Massachusetts Council for Social Studies (MCSS) and is on the advisory board of the Am YIsrael Chai Children’s Book project and Read Your World, organizations focusing on educational initiatives and children’s literature. Jany is a member of Massachusetts Educators Against Antisemitism (MEAA), where she supports efforts to combat antisemitism in MA schools and educators’ unions. At FTI,  she works on the K–12 literature program focused on accurate, authentic representations of Israel, Israelis, and Jewish identity in children’s and young adult literature. She lectures  nationally at educator and librarian conferences on antisemitism, antizionism, Jewish identity, and the representation of Israel and Jewish history in K–12 education.
